I opened this 2011 Torii Mor, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon last night and it was a little tight. After having the 2007 on a recent Wine Walk in the West End we knew how really good their wines are. So this one being much younger in age, I put it up for the night with a loosely fitted cork on the counter to let there be a slight air exchange.
24 hours later it’s more relaxed and revealing ripe red fruits…sweet red cherries, plum, raspberry, and chocolate, cinnamon, vanillin, cola, and savory/umami notes of mushroom, au jus, and tarragon. It’s balanced, complex, and elegant Pinot Noir. About $24 retail or as we like to think … $6 glass retail. Now this is a happy hour!
