Lobster Guacamole and the 2013 Campuget Rosé—Zapoteca, Portland, ME

Zapoteca knocks the Mexico meets Maine theme out of the park with this Lobster Guacamole dish. Add a glass of the 2013 Chateau de Campuget, Tradition Rosé from the Costieres de Nimes, France and have yourself and incredible food and wine experience in Portland, Maine. In fact, I sampled a few other possible wine pairings, and for my palate, this rosé was the best choice by the glass for this dish.

Godello and Fried Mussels—Eventide Oyster Co., Portland, ME

I choose my wine and food together, especially here in Maine. Because the seasons are so short and the privately owned restaurants here are using as much locally sourced ingredients as they can. So while the food menu may change often, the wine lists typically do not change as often.  That’s a generalization of course and Eventide Oyster Co. is definitely an exception.

Blackened Whitefish Tacos and Sincerely Sauvignon Blanc — Sonny’s, Portland, ME

Fish Tacos and Sauvigon Blanc are pretty much a ‘no fail’ great pairing. The Blackened Whitefish Tacos with Crispy Gorditas, Pico de Gallo, House Pickled Slaw, and Guacamole paired with the 2012 Sincerely Sauvignon Blanc, at Sonny’s in Portland, ME is no exception.  The tortillas or ‘Crispy Gorditas’ as they were called are thick and (more…)
