Since 2010, Wine Wise has curated unparalleled wine education experiences in Portland, Maine, offering engaging and interactive opportunities for individuals to enrich their Maine experience and wine knowledge through an array of public events, private engagements, and wine region excursions. As a locally owned and community-driven business, Wine Wise fosters deep connections within the Greater Portland community and collaborates with numerous small, local businesses in the restaurant, beverage, and marine sectors, while also drawing a significant and growing number of newcomers to Maine for world-class wine experiences. In 2023, Wine Wise’s highly acclaimed Wine Sails attracted customers from 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and 111 cities and towns within Maine, and was featured in Yankee Magazine’s “Best of New England, 2023 Summer Guide.” In addition to June-October Wine Sails, Wine Wise’s services include Sommelier-Curated Wine Club and Delivery, National and International Wine Region Trips, Private Events, Consulting, and more.


ABOUT THE CANDIDATES
We are seeking entry-level or experienced people to join our growing team. We have multiple roles to fill for year-round and seasonal Wine Wise initiatives and temporary (Feb-June) projects for Portland Wine Week. We can customize positions to fit the desires, skill sets, and schedules of multiple candidates. Responsibilities can include but aren’t limited to organizing trips, writing and presenting proposals, being a restaurant and hotel liaison for Portland Wine Week projects and Wine Wise events, creating and presenting proposals, etc.

Desired candidates have a strong work ethic, outstanding time management, organization, communication, and computer skills, the ability to think strategically, and creatively, flourish in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment, be detail-oriented, and have a passion for quality work, which are all essential to success in this position. Strong writing, sales, and persuasive presentation skills are a strong plus! 

  • An interest or background in marketing, sales, communications, or public relations is a plus!

  • Work within a team of marketers to collaboratively create and execute plans.

  • Stellar written and oral communication skills.

  • Willingness to try innovative marketing strategies.

  • Excellent time management, able to balance many projects at once.

  • A creative thinker who enjoys experimenting and generating ideas and experiences.

  • Present projects to clients and work with them to strategize to their needs.

  • Professional demeanor, tactful in communication; can handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • Strong, professional, and persuasive presentation skills

  • Ability to meet with partners in person (local) and over the phone to pitch customized proposals.

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office.

  • Identify, communicate, and troubleshoot constraints. 


COORDINATION & TEAM COLLABORATION

  • Participate in ongoing weekly or twice-weekly team status/planning meetings

  • Collaborate with the Wine Wise and/or Portland Wine Week teams to develop initiatives and project plans.

  • Brainstorm and pitch new ideas and initiatives.

  • Schedule meetings, email/phone correspondence, in-person meetings, and presentations.

  • Collaborate with team members and business partners.

  • Coordinate and schedule correspondence with our partners professionally and efficiently.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred, but not required. Industry experience or familiarity is a strong plus. We are open to an entry-level candidate. 

  • Experience: 0-2 years.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
