Kick off summer with a week of wine in gorgeous, coastal Portland Maine! Crafted as a boutique experience for wine enthusiasts of all types—from the casual wine lover to the serious oenophile—this week of world class wine, learning experiences, and award-winning food will launch you into summer with style. Activities will include pairing and performance events, incredible wine dinners, tastings, educational classes and seminars, special menus, a passport tour of dozens of local restaurants and their wine lists; and other happenings that feature wine, food, art, and fun. New for 2019 a “Women in Wine” track will have special event programming that highlights dozens of female winemakers, sommeliers, and wine industry leaders.

DETAILS: The wine industry, both in production and distribution, has long been a male-dominated industry. This has slowly been changing over the last few decades. This panel is made up of women who have push the boundaries and found ways to create their own places in the world of wine. As more and more women take up positions of respect and authority in the wine industry it is changing the business of wine and how wine is consumed. Come and hear the background stories and thoughts from these women who have been at the forefront of making this change happen. Moderator and panelists announced soon.

In 2010, she was awarded the Wine Spirit and Education Trust Level Three Advanced Certification in Wines and Spirits (with merit), became a Sommelier in the American Court of Master Sommeliers, and received her Certified Wine Professional award from the Culinary Institute of America in St. Helena, California. Erica is the principal of Wine Wise, a wine education and events service and is skilled at creating truly creative and memorable wine experiences that take guests beyond a typical tasting with her intimate understanding of what makes each wine unique. And she’ll do it with her trademark down to earth style and sense of humor.

Where do we meet?
We'll send an email to attendees the Wednesday before the event announcing the starting location and all the establishments that we'll be visiting. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before our start time. Please refer to our FAQ page for answers to questions that you may be wondering about.

Cancellations/Reschedules/No Shows
Because of our size, cancellations affect us significantly. If we are able to re-sell your tickets we can refund your ticket price minus the $10.00 credit card transactions we have to pay OR reschedule you to a different date that has availability (there is no credit card transaction fee in this case). You are always welcome to send a friend or family member in your place or sell your own tickets. Just make sure we have the ticket holder's email address so we can send them the event notifications so they are aware of where to find us and any day-of weather related notifications. There are no refunds or reschedules for no shows or if we are not able to resell your tickets. Makes sense, right?

Join Sommelier Erica Archer, CWP, WSET Advanced, for a guided wine and Maine oysters tasting and walking tour of Portland’s vibrant food scene as you explore some incredible examples of different Maine oysters paired with wines at four great establishments. In addition to the tastings, you're in for an incredible wine education experience. You'll walk away knowing how regional influences impact wine styles and quality, gain confidence in knowing how evaluate, select, serve, and pair wines, and describe what you smell and taste and a keen understanding of the different flavor profiles of oysters grown in different parts of Maine. Plan to taste and learn a lot about wine and oysters and have a great time doing it.
